Nauti's new owner and I were speaking this morning and she informed me that Nauti is doing very well. She is bossing her new siblings around already...LOL. I'm not surprised.
I spent lots of time with this litter, as I'm home all day and I think it has paid off. I didn't follow some " Super Dog" ~ early neurological stimulation program of
" touch here, hold like this" as others have, but instead used some common sense and hopefully achieved the same results. You don't need a webpage to tell you pups do better when exposed to more early on, be it touch, sound, sites. To me its all about handling them, proper stimulation and exposure. I spent lots of time with the pups, handled them every day from day one and exposed them to as many things as possible along the way... sounds , textures, people, places etc. The result? Well they are happy, outgoing , loving cresteds that adapted easily into their new home environments. Now its up to the new owners to continue the work.
Nauti was a great 'comparison' for us as her new owner also recently brought in two other pups both a bit older than Nauti. One of them was apparently raised similar to Nauti and is more outgoing than the other. The other one may not have been exposed to as much and is quite shy.(The breeder was a bit bigger kennel and quite busy with work & kids, so likely less time than I was fortunate enough to have )
Nauti is the most outgoing of the three and eager to try new things, she handles stress/change very well so far.
BB, now Blossom, is apparently the same from reports I've had and I knew she would be...she exudes a quiet confidence. She is working on obedience & agility.
To us this says we are on the right track and to just keep doing as we did with these girls...be there, handle them early & often and exposed them to lots of new things. We are in the planning stages of our next litter.
